Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and empathetic Counselling Therapist to join our dynamic team at TLCSupports. The successful candidate will work closely with clients to provide individual and group therapy services, offering support for a variety of mental health and emotional challenges. The role requires a compassionate and client-centered approach, as well as the ability to develop and implement treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual, couple, and family therapy sessions based on clients' needs.
Conduct comprehensive assessments and create treatment plans tailored to each client.
Utilize various therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based practices.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in compliance with privacy laws and ethical standards.
Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure holistic care and support for clients.
Provide crisis intervention and support as necessary.
Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
Adhere to all ethical and legal guidelines related to counseling practices.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Must hold a valid professional license in the relevant jurisdiction (e.g., Registered Psychotherapist (RP), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Canadian and Counselling Psychotherapy Association etc.).
At least 2-3 years of clinical experience in a counselling or therapy setting.
Strong knowledge and experience in therapeutic modalities such as CBT, DBT, mindfulness-based interventions, and trauma-informed care.
Experience working with diverse populations and a variety of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and relationship issues.
Ability to create a safe and non-judgmental space for clients.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience:
Experience working in a community-based or private practice setting.
Experience with group therapy or leading workshops on mental health topics.
Familiarity with telehealth or online therapy platforms is an asset.
Bilingualism (English/French or other languages) is a plus.
Education and Certifications:
Master’s degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (required).
Current registration with a recognized professional body (e.g., CRPO, OCSWSSW, CCPA, etc.).
Additional certifications or training in specialized therapies (e.g., trauma-focused therapy, play therapy, couples therapy) are advantageous.
